Mariner all the way in Cork mud

The heavy ground didn't deter Mick Darcy from making all on Silas Mariner in the opening Paddypower.com IPhone App 3-y-o Hurdle and the plan worked a treat at Cork as the 7/1 chance scored by four lengths.

On his fourth start over flights, the successful son of Indian Danehill was looking good from the second last hurdle and he kept on well to defeat outsider Peaks Of Fire with the favourite Sailors Warn a length further back in third.

'Buster' Harty, father of winning trainer Sabrina, said: "He is a nice horse and Sabrina had to step-up to plate after her first cousin Eddie winning with Captain Cee Bee yesterday. She always had great faith in this horse.

"I told Mick to take his time but he said that Sabrina had told him to drive on, so what do I know. Sabrina's aunt Rosemary and her husband Richard own and bred the horse but they wouldn't come with me to see him run today."
