David Marnane is hoping Elleval can book his place in a valuable event in Qatar next month with a good performance in Dubai on Thursday.

The County Tipperary trainer is eyeing the HH The Emir's Trophy over a mile and a half at Doha on February 25th for the seven-year-old should he run well in a handicap over a mile and a half at Meydan.

Marnane was pleased with Elleval's first start for five months when he was fifth over a mile and a quarter two weeks ago.

"Elleval ran well and I'm going to chance running him over a mile and a half for only the second time in his life on Thursday," said Marnane.

"If he gets on well, there is a race worth a million coming up in Qatar that he could go for."

Jamesie, another of Marnane's stable stalwarts, is also set to run at Meydan on Thursday after he returned to action with a solid performance to take third place in a six-furlong handicap earlier this month.

"Jamesie ran a blinder over six furlongs the last day. I was surprised as I didn't think he'd be quick enough over the trip," said the trainer.

"He'll run again over six on Thursday and we'll probably step him up to seven furlongs after that."
