McNamara doubles up on McCourt's Girl

Northern Rocker's late defection due to the ground left the way clear for something else to win the Sligo Racecourse Maiden Hurdle and even money favourite Fearnwood Girl didn't need a second invite as she scored by a comfortable four lengths in the hands of Andrew McNamara.

The daughter of Dilshaan was in front two out and the contest was soon over. She ended up accounting for Mannin Beach with another three lengths back to her stable companion, Black Rock Lake in third.

Successful trainer Tom McCourt, for whom Fearnwood Girl was having her first run said: "I haven't got her very long. She kept galloping, she's not very fast and she is the same at home. Francis Casey (Peter Casey used to train her) said she was the same when they had her.

"She stays though and she'll get two and a half miles. We'll see now what the handicapper gives her."

For winning pilot, Andrew McNamara, this brought up a double as he had earlier triumphed on the aforementioned Peter Casey's Equation in the opener.
