Moon shines for Culloty

Cry For The Moon ran out a convincing winner of the apprentice handicap at Navan for Jim Culloty.

It was a welcome winner for the Mallow handler, who had last visited the winners' enclosure last July.

Shane Foley drove his mount into the lead with over a furlong to run and he stayed on strongly to post a two-length victory over Gypsie Queen in the 1m5f contest.

There had been some money around for the winner this morning (7/1 into 9/2) and he was eventually sent off 11/2 on course.

"I fancied him today. He's been a bit unlucky and has been drawn wide and unlucky in running," said Culloty.

"I've had this race in mind for him for some time as I thought it would suit. I'd like to step him up in trip but there's not too many handicaps over a longer trip.

"The Ulster Derby (at Down Royal) is an option while there is also a mile-and-a-half handicap at the Curragh for him."
