Hugh Morgan partnered his first winner over fences as Full Cry gained a hard-earned win in the Sky Sports Racing Launching In 2019 Handicap Chase at Kilbeggan.

The 21-year-old Kilmacow rider has been seen to good effect when successful a couple of times in recent months on Babbling Stream, and trainer Henry de Bromhead was full of praise for his efforts here.

The 10/1 chance (from 12’s) was prominent throughout, and rallied well after the last to get the better of 7/2 favourite Freewheelin Dylan by a neck.

The pair pulled four lengths clear of Oathkeeper in third.

De Bromhead said, “It was a super ride from Hugh and he rode him exactly to instructions. He needs a good strong ride and you have to keep at him the whole time.

“I’m delighted for the lads (Garristown Aintree Syndicate). He was third in the Midlands National but a bit disappointing that he’s not won this year up until now. They are nearly all Dubs so they have done a lot of celebrating over the last few days.

“We’ll enjoy today and look for a similar type contest in the near future.”
