Colreevy had plenty going for her on pedigree and on the evidence of a performance in the point-to-point fields. At odds of 4/11 she scored at the first time of asking on the racecourse proper in the I.T.B.A. Irish EBF 4yo Fillies INH Flat Race at Fairyhouse.

Keen and always on the pace under Patrick Mullins, Colreevy gave a swish of her tail when well on her way to victory under a furlong out.

Though a 33/1 chance, Owenacurra Lass had shown a bit in the past, and she kept on in the final furlong but she was never really threatening the Willie Mullins-trained Colreevy. Three and a quarter lengths split them at the line.

Patrick Mullins said in the aftermath: "She's very good. We went very slow and she was a little keen because of it.

"She got to the front very easily and was then a bit green. I think she's definitely a black type mare, and whether she goes to Leopardstown or Aintree or Punchestown there will be a lot of fun to be had with her in the spring.

"It's the first horse that I can remember that the Flynn's have had with us, and it's nice to wear these colours."

The Closutton team had earlier taken the 1.10 event with Stormy Ireland under Danny Mullins.
