Patrick Mullins is determined to continue his good start to the 2017/18 campaign as he bids to wrestle back the champion amateur rider crown from Jamie Codd.

After a titanic tussle last term, Codd added to his two titles in the point-to-point fields when edging out Mullins by just one winner.

"Jamie beat me by one last year - he rode out of his skin and he deserved it," said Mullins at Listowel last week before adding another winner to his total on Brahma Bull.

"I've had a very good start to this season. I'm on 23 winners (now 24), which it took me until Christmas to do last year.

"I think Jamie is on nine or 10, but there's a long way to go and you have to stay sound.

"Ted Walsh won 11 championships, I have nine and the big goal would be to surpass Ted's score."
