No drama for Gaiety Theatre

Gaiety Theatre ground out a hard fought victory in the mile maiden at Dundalk to give Kevin Manning a quick double.

The well backed 11/10f (from 6/4) was driven into the lead at the furlong pole and stuck to her guns well inside the final furlong. Diamond Daze ran on to get within three-parts of a length while Sli Na Fiarana who had challenged long-time leader Aragorn Rouge two out, stuck on well in third.

The winner had been an eyecatching fifth on her debut here last month, when finishing lame, before posting a fine third a week later.

"She probably needs a bit further but she travelled well through the race," said James Grace junior, son of the trainer.

"We've no plans at the moment. We just wanted to get a win with her before the New Year while she's still three."
