Butterflyvespiere was delivered with a well timed challenge by James O'Sullivan to land the second division of the Irish Stallions Farms EBF Mares Handicap Hurdle at Listowel.

The Peter Fahey-trained filly was last seen finishing a fine third at the Galway festival and stepped up almost half a mile in today's event.

She was driven along to chase the leaders turning for home before O'Sullivan switched her out to challenge at the second last flight.

There were three in a line down to the last as she disputed with long-time leader Misty Millie and Farrawaybay

Butterflyvespiere landed in front over the final flight and the 3/1 favourite galloped on strongly to post a two-and-three-quarter length victory over Farrawaybay.

The winning rider revealed:- "I have a great connection with the owners (Winning Ways Enigma Syndicate) as I've had three rides for them and they've all won.

“I got on Royal Kahala, who has turned out to be right mare, as a spare ride in a bumper one day and have had luck for them as i also won a maiden on this mare at Downpatrick.

"She had a great run in Galway over 2m2f but when she turned in she got caught a bit for toe. She is a lovely big mare."
