Willie Mullins feels On His Own deserves another crack at the Cheltenham Gold Cup after his sterling display in the Lexus Chase.

The 10-year-old was agonisingly beaten a short head by Lord Windermere last March and showed he could still mix it with the best when finding only Road To Riches too good in the Leopardstown feature.

"On His Own ran a cracker. We put the cheekpieces on but I don't know whether he needed them," said Mullins.

"He's coming right and will improve as the season goes on. I'd imagine that run is good enough to go back for the Gold Cup.

"He jumped a bit right but he enjoys doing that so we'll let him do it and take our chance."

Mullins was also pleased with Boston Bob s effort in taking fourth place in the Lexus, and he could also line up in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

"He'll maybe still improve more from the run. We'll look forward to the spring and he's Gold Cup bound too," said the County Carlow trainer.

"He'll probably come back here for the Hennessy. I thought he ran a decent race."
