Option holds them off

Original Option grabbed the lead early, after it looked like no-one wanted it, and he made the rest of the running in the Mullaghcurry Cup Handicap Hurdle. Pozyc was something of a hotpot (6/5f) in the two-and-a-half mile contest and came with a strong challenge at the second last.

He couldn't find a way past Noel Meade's charge, however, who dug deep for Paul Carberry to record a length-and-three-quarters success at 4/1 (from 11/2).

"I always though three miles was his trip but any time he's went past two-and-a-half he's disappointed so this could be his trip," said Meade.

"Since he's been running left handed he's got over his hanging problem. He could go over fences but we'll see.

"He has already run in a novice chase but jumped left. His pedigree is all chasing - he has a good pedigree.

"He may go to Killarney and is entered for a novice chase and a handicap hurdle there."
