Ordinary Man takes to fences straight away

Liam Burke can look forward to seeing some of his former charges shine in the coming months for Paul Nicholls and after watching another ex-inmate, Captain Dash score at Worcester earlier, the Glengoura handler was on the mark in his own right when Ordinary Man made a successful chasing bow under Shay Barry in the Dungarvan Beginners Chase at Tramore.

Turning out quickly after a sixth placed effort over flights at Tipperary on Sunday, Ordinary Man made nice progress on the inner to get into contention two out. Favourite Tico (still every chance) departed here and then Ordinary Man got the better of Special Token on the run-in to prevail by three parts of a length.

Burke trains Ordinary Man for the Simply The Best Syndicate and he said: "You'd have to be happy with that for his first chase run.

"We thought he'd run well (14s into 8s) at Tipperary on Sunday where he was a bit disappointing. They went no gallop there though and he was caught a bit flat-footed.

"Shay rides him better than anyone else."
