Oscars impresses on first start over hurdles

The 4/5 favourite Oscars Business ran out an easy winner of the Online Booking Mares Maiden Hurdle providing her jockey Philip Enright with his fourth winner in as many days.

Trained by Robert Tyner the daughter of Oscar Schindler was strongly fancied to follow up on her recent easy bumper win at Navan.

Having tracked the leaders for much of the race she closed at the third last before hitting the front two flights from home.

The second favourite at 7/2 and runner-up Glibin attempted to challenge before the second last but couldn't match the winner's turn of foot going down by twelve lengths at the line. Andunowhat who was third best in the betting at 9/2, finished third a further two lengths back.

Winning trainer Robert Tyner said afterwards: "She is a grand mare and that was a grand performance for her first time over hurdles. She will probably go for a 2m 2f Mares Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse now at the end of January.

"She won three point-to-points and when she was beaten in the Mares Final, Derek O'Connor said she didn’t feel right and it’s looking that way now."
