Parsons Shows his Stamina

In common with his star stable companion, Pandorama, Parsons Pistol began his career in the point-to-point fields for John Halley and now carries the Robert Bagnall silks, and his undoubted stamina came into play in a big way as he took the Woodlands Park 100 Club Novice Chase, which was run off in very high winds.

Under Paul Carberry, Parsons Pistol picked off the front-running Chiraaz two out, before going away to account for favourite, Good Fella by nineteen lengths. There were twenty two lengths back to Chiraaz in third and the only other finisher, Bluesea Cracker was a distance further back.

For the first time in six weeks, Noel Meade was racing following problems with his back: "I had the option of going back in for another operation or taking more pills and keep going, so I kept going. I've missed you guys," he quipped smiling to the assembled press.

"I was going to keep him for the Thyestes but I changed my mind as I thought this race was winnable. He does stay well although Paul said he was absolutely drunk going up to the line. He will be entered for the RSA Chase and the four miler," concluded Meade.

Parsons Pistol is by Pistolet Bleu as is the winner of the opening maiden hurdle, Who's Deal (EM)
