We had a third winning favourite in as many races and there was further joy for the many followers of the bang-in-form Paul Deegan yard as Prince Of All made all under Chris Hayes to take the Listed Patton Stakes.

Soon in front, the Iffraaj colt had his rivals on the stretch from over two furlongs out.

Though the likes of Quadrivium finished out his race well in fourth, the truth was that nothing really ever threatened to bridge the gap to the convincing Jaber Abdullah-owned victor.

At the line Prince Of All had two and a quarter lengths, half a length and three parts of a length in hand over Magnolia Beach Due Diligence (ran satisfactorily on his first start in Ireland since coming over from the States) and the aforementioned Quadrivium.

Deegan reflected: "That was great. We were a little bit worried – not so much about the seven furlongs but that there could be a lack of pace and that it would turn tactical.

"We made the decision to make the running. Chris gave him a great ride and was very impressed with him.

"He was idling in front but he's going the right way."

On future plans the Clifton Lodge operator said: "I'd imagine now that we'll go to the Curragh (the Guineas) off the back of that and we won't go anywhere else.

"I think he's a proper good ground horse and I doubt we'll chance him on soft.

"I think a stiff mile will suit him and it'll play to his strengths.

"The good gallop should suit too as he has a good high cruising speed and he can pick up off it.

"He could still sharpen up as he's such a big horse. He got it nice and handy in front there. He was nice and relaxed so I see no reason why he shouldn't stay further.

"Over a mile the last day Chris said he hadn't hit top gear. He quickened well today and the dream is still alive."

C.P. Hoban, rider of Suite trained by Patrick Martin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly in running. (GC & EM)
