Trainer Criquette Head-Maarek was delighted to see the impeccably-bred Terre make an encouraging start to her career at Saint-Cloud on Wednesday.

The daughter of Motivator is a full-sister to the incredible dual Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Treve, who retired after finishing fourth to Golden Horn when chasing an historic hat-trick in Europe's premier middle-distance contest 12 months ago.

Terre was unsurprisingly a warm order to make a successful debut, just as Treve had done on her sole juvenile appearance at Longchamp four years ago.

While she came up short in the second division of the Prix Douve, Thierry Jarnet's mount ran a race full of promise to finish second to Musawaah, trained by Head-Maarek's brother, Freddy Head.

Head-Maarek said: "She was very green. (Thierry) Jarnet said she was looking at everything through the race and that is what she is like in the morning, but she ran well.

"When he gave her a slap, she went straight and did well to finish second.

"You never know what you're up against first time out, but I think Freddy liked his filly and Carlos (Laffon-Parias) likes the filly that was third.

"She was not blowing afterwards, she was fine, so I might give her one more run this year.

"To be Treve would be difficult, but when she knows what she needs to know, she could be a nice filly."

Freddy Head confirmed he holds the winner in high regard.

He said: "I think she is an improving filly and I think she'll be a nice filly next year. I think we could run her in a (Classic) trial, maybe not a Guineas trial as I might want to go over a bit longer distance, but we'll see.

"There were some good noises about some of the fillies in the race today."
