The going has improved slightly at Punchestown for day two of the Festival meeting, with the weather currently dry at the Co. Kildare venue.

Persistent rain yesterday morning and further spells of drizzle in the afternoon left the ground yielding to soft for the opening day of the Festival.

However the going is described as yielding, yielding to soft in places, this morning although some showers are forecast for this afternoon.

The outlook is mainly dry for tomorrow.

The feature race today, and one of the highlights of the five-day Festival, is the Coral Punchestown Gold Cup which goes to post at 5.30pm.

The Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle and the Racing Post Champion Bumper are the other Grade 1 events on a seven-race card with the action getting underway at 3.40pm.
