Queen Alphabet readily put the opposition to the sword in Gowran Park's mile and a half handicap for four-year-olds and older.

She raced prominently before assuming the lead after two furlongs.

The 7/2 joint favourite travelled on the bridle for Jack Kennedy with three furlongs to go as each of her eight rivals started to be pushed along or driven.

She swept into the straight and was ridden at the two pole to go on and win her race. The seven-year-old mare found plenty for Kennedy as she had her rivals toiling coming to the final furlong.

There was no stopping her as she quickened away to win by six lengths from My Direction (25/1) who was a couple of lengths in front of 12/1 chance Elm Grove

This was Queen Alphabet's third win on the flat to go with four National Hunt victories.

Handler Peter Fahey said: “She’s a grand mare. Things didn’t work out for her the last day at Killarney as it was a stop/start gallop.

"It’s unlikely that she will go to Galway, and there is a nice fillies handicap at Sligo the following week that would suit her. I’d love to go back over fences with her as I think she’s made for that game.”
