Quick double for Carberry in Down Royal

Paul Carberry rode his second winner of the afternoon at Down Royal when steering Cottage Oak in the colours of the Sloan family from Co. Antrim to an easy win in the Sean Graham Bookmakers Beginners Chase.

Cottage Oak, having his first start for Gordon Elliott, jumped well in front and had his rivals struggling from the turn into the home straight.

Elliott said: "This is a nice horse and he will stay Noive chasing for the moment. This is the first horse I have trained for the owners and I am very pleased we have got off to such a good start. I only have the horse in the yard for 7 or 8 weeks as the owners pre-trained him at home in Templepatrick." Tammys Hill was booked for second when crumbling on landing at the second last fence leaving So Determined to take the runner-up berth.

Carberry had earlier won aboard Like The Da for David Martin Kelly.
