“He cost a good few quid,” Noel Meade said of Naas bumper winner Road To Riches after he impressed at Naas.

He’s likely to be worth a few more quid after being steered home by four and a half lengths by Nina Carberry to land a gamble. Road To Riches had been 7/4 on opening trading today and was hammered down to evens. He eventually went off 8/13 favourite.

“Martin Cullinane had been singing his praises for six months and in fairness to him he was right,” Meade added.

“At the sales there were plenty of customers for him. Luckily Michael (O’Leary) bought him and sent him to me.

“He’s been very impressive at home. He’ll go jumping now. We won’t run him anymore in bumpers. We’ll look for something over two and a half miles.

“He won a point-to-point and Richard Pugh rated him very highly."

The front three in this bumper pulled well clear. Gold Bullet (6/1 from 12/1 in morning) and The Crafty Butcher took minor honours. It was 19 lengths back to Anthem Royale in fourth.
