Rocky Wednesday likes his Monday's

Gordon Elliott saddled his second winner on Down Royal’s Boxing Day card when Rocky Wednesday and Robbie McNamara justified 2/1 favouritism after staying on in the run-in to score by a length-and-a-half in the two mile maiden hurdle.

The trainer who saddled the Gigginstown House Stud horse said: “He has loads of ability and Robbie gave him a great ride. It was time for him to shed his maiden tag. It’s good to get two winners here today.”

The winner’s market rival – Hidden Future – chased him home at 9/4. Back To Balloo put in an improved performance to take third at 12/1 a length-and-three-parts away.

Declan Bates who pulled up Grainne Delight before two out reported that his mount never travelled. The 5/1 shot was subsequently found to be lame post-race.
