Royal County Down brought up a Galway treble for Aidan and Donnacha O'Brien when getting up in the closing stages of the nursery.

The Gleneagles colt scored in Down Royal just over a week ago and went off 2/1 to follow up in Ballybrit.

He made progress to press the leader Justina with over two furlongs to travel and was ridden approaching the straight.

He was locked together with Justina in the last furlong before edging ahead in the final 100 yards.

He kept on best to land the spoils by a neck from fast-finishing stablemate Mythologic (9/2). In From The Cold (25/1) came home very well for third, the same distance away, as Justina weakened close home.

Donnacha O'Brien said: "He is still very green and is still learning and was fairly raw when I got to the front on him.

"He had shown signs of it (quirkiness) at home but he definitely has ability and when they have ability you can work on the quirks."
