Russell in control on Pep

Adropaupep produced a good front-running performance to claim the O'Leary Insurances Handicap Hurdle at Galway.

Davy Russell always looked in control on the leader and kicked for home turning into the straight.

The Amilynx mare galloped on strongly from the last to post a five-length winning margin over 20/1 shot Kirbybroguelantern

The winner was defying a 9lb rise for her success at Cork earlier this month and was sent off a solid 7/2 favourite.

"She's a tough little girl and has good old stamina," said Russell afterwards.

"She was probably going as quick as I would like down the hill but she stayed on well.

"It was probably my fault when she made a bad mistake at Wexford (finished second) but she's made up for it with two wins since."
