Veteran performer See Double You had to settle for second in the Rotary Foundation End Polio Handicap Chase at Southwell this evening.

Ronan McNally’s charge was bidding to become the first 16-year-old to win over fences in Britain since Bishopdale landed a handicap chase at Hexham in 1997.

See Double You had won over hurdles at Roscommon last week, but he could not repeat those heroics in the hands of Aidan Coleman.

Sent off a 4-1 co-favourite of three, See Double You was under pressure with two fences to jump and had no reply as Mr Mafia stretched away for a 20-length success.
