Simple Steps gained a maiden success in the Molony Cup Handicap Chase at Thurles today, as the Robert Tyner trained mare gained a battling success under jockey Philip Enright.

The locally renowned race had a full field of 18 runners and Simple Steps was prominent throughout, as the seven year old grey mare lost and regained the lead at different stages of the race.

In the end, Simple Steps regained the lead approaching the final fence and scored a length and three parts win over Cappacurry Zak

Afterwards Mary Tyner, wife of the winning trainer, stated “"she was very promising when she won her point to point but she just took her time to get it right and it took us a while to get it right with her.

"She was tough and did it well today. We'll go for something similar today and the lads are happy (Ballymartle Syndicate, from Riverstick)!"
