Donnacha O’Brien brought through Sir Edwin Landseer to lengthen well when asked to pick up on the outer in the straight, and that effort took the Galileo colt all the way to success in the opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden (Plus 10 Race) at Roscommon. Cascavelle and Ice Canyon did their best to match Sir Edwin Landseer inside the final quarter mile, but the Ballydoyle victor was too strong for that pair by a length and three parts and a length and a half.

"He's genuine and consistent. He was there to pick up the pieces if there was nothing special in it," said Donnacha O'Brien.

"He's probably improving and is a grand horse."

Sir Edwin Landseer was here shedding his maiden tag at the fifth time of asking.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the straight involving Beast (GB), ridden by C.T. Keane, unplaced, Spanish Tenor ridden by W.J. Lee, placed fifth and Bruinneall ridden by K.J. Manning, placed fourth. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judge's placings and took no further action.

G.F. Carroll, rider of Hone The Younger (GB), trained by Joseph G. Murphy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung off the final bend.
