The Bet Online At thetote.com Novice Chase looked a cracker beforehand and it produced an exciting spectacle at Killarney with Spring Heeled gaining the day under Davy Russell.

It was fast and furious around the turning track and indeed between the last two The Real Article edged into the challenging Burn And Turn with the eventual victor slightly hampered.

From the last though it was Spring Heeled that found the most and he ended up prevailing by three parts of a length and two lengths from the aforementioned pair, The Real Article and Burn And Turn. Black Benny made more than one slight mistake and he finished eight lengths further back in fourth whilst those that made Sizing Machine (mistake five out) the 6/4 favourite were left disappointed as he faded into a bad fifth.

Winning trainer Jim Culloty reflected: "He likes the good ground but he probably wants a bit further.

"I thought he was well-in at the weights and the fact that Davy was available today as opposed to for a race tomorrow, swung it for us to come here."

The native of the locality then joked: "He (Russell) knows him having been beaten on him twice before."

"He battled and he jumped well and hopefully he'll continue to improve.

"He'll go for the Kerry National if the ground is good and if he gets in.

"They've done an unbelievable job with the ground here. In the past a heavy shower of rain would have put a meeting in difficulty – they've improved things greatly," the winning trainer expanded. (TW & EM)
