Tommy Stack likes nothing better than a winner in his native county and Current State duly obliged by taking the Kelly Foley & Co. In Association With Lloyd Fitzpatrick Accountants Rated Race at Killarney.

The daughter of High Chaparral was the outsider of the four runners at 6/1 in this extended mile event but was far from ignored in the market having been available at 10/1 and 8/1 on track.

The lead changed hands a number of times in the straight with Wayne Lordan playing his cards late on the Peter Piller-owned winner.

The 11/10 favourite Jinsha Lake took over from the front-running Shannon Soul over two furlongs out, and was in turn headed by Emperor Bob inside the final furlong.

However Lordan timed his challenge to perfection, getting on top in the closing stages to score by half a length.

Emperor Bob took the second spot, with Jinsha Lake another two and a quarter lengths back in third.

Stack said, "Wayne gave her a good ride. He dropped her in, and came with the one run. She was badly hampered at Galway."

Lordan said, "She's been running consistent. She travels well but stays well also and will get a mile and a quarter. Tommy always likes to have a winner here, and he had her nice and fresh today."
