Stormey defied top-weight in good style when coming out on top in the concluding Kingbet Handicap Hurdle at Bellewstown.

British based Robbie Dunne journeyed home for the spin on the Clonmel victor from seven weeks earlier.

The September Storm gelding was lively in the market this morning but much easier on track going off a 7/1 chance.

He made ground from mid-division three out, improving to challenge before the next.

Soon in front Stormey was ridden to assert before the last, keeping on strongly on the run-in for a five length win over Konig Hall

Successful trainer Steve Mahon said: "He's a good little horse. Tom (Quinn, owner) is a Galway man so I'd imagine that is where he will go.

"I was getting messed about booking a jockey so I rang Robbie Dunne and told him it would be worth his while coming over. He's staying over to ride on Saturday and Sunday, and is a really good rider."

The Stewards interviewed B.R. Dalton, rider of Alterno concerning his use of the whip in this race.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found B.R. Dalton in breach of Reg. 10 3. (g) (arm above shoulder) and having taken his clean record into account the Stewards cautioned him.
