Things work out to Hogan's benefit

Jockey/trainer Denis Hogan was on the mark in the Trinity College Dublin Horseracing Society Handicap Hurdle when his Luke’s Benefit made all for a comfortable win over Give Us A Hand

Luke’s Benefit was following up Monday’s success at Limerick to maintain Hogan’s bright start to the training ranks and the Co Tipperary based handler later sated “Luke’s Benefit has a couple of pounds in hand, even carrying the 6lbs penalty today. However I was thinking driving up here today that I should have left Jane (Mangan, winning rider at Limerick) on him to claim the 7lbs – thankfully it has worked out though!”

“I’m thrilled for the two lads who own him (T&M Racing Partnership, Tony and Mike O’Brien from Nenagh) . They are great lads and have been in the game a long time - it couldn’t happed to nicer fellows.

“I’ve nothing really in mind at the moment for Luke’s Benefit but he will go chasing in the near future. He is a nine year old, has had his problems down the years but this is the first time we’ve really had a clear run with him.”
