Third Christmas win at Limerick for Satwa

Satwa King ran out a very easy winner of the Limerick Racecourse Vets Handicap Hurdle for the Askeaton duo of trainer Seamus Braddish and rider Aine O’Connor.

Having won this race in 2008 and 2009 Satwa King was recording his third success in it and only for last year’s meeting being abandoned it may well have been his fourth.

Having opened at 7/1 on course the winner was backed into 11/2 at the off and was sent clear before the second last.

From there his supporters hadn’t a moments worry as he stayed on strongly to win easily by twelve lengths from Mark Me Up who kept on well to take second at 6/1 under Declan Bates.

7/1 shot Sorted under Ben Dalton finished a further two and a half lengths back in third while Masterofthebree was another length and a half back in fourth at 14/1 for John Supple and Joe Holly.

Winning trainer Seamus Braddish said afterwards: "We have been waiting a while for this even though he won this race twice in the past.

"He really likes it here but I was afraid of the tacky ground. If he comes out of this ok he will come back here for a 2m 2f Handicap Hurdle on Thursday."

Braddish & O’Connor were both getting themselves off the cold list as they recorded their last win on the track at Gowran on February 13th 2010 when De Dodger scored.
