Trainer Reggie Roberts has eyes for winning the Irish Greyhound Derby but today registered his second 'gee-gee' Listed winner with his Timeless Call in the Midsummer Sprint Stakes at Cork.

The winner, who held Jamesie to win by half a length today, was providing jockey Pat Smullen with a double on the day and was adding the race to her previous win at Listed level, the Mercury Stakes at Dundalk last October, for greyhound trainer Roberts.

Following today's win, Roberts stated “she's a right little lady and everything happened for her today – she had ground, which is very important for her, and a lovely draw in her favour.

“I've only three horses riding out and it's great to have one like her. Pat (Smullen) says she needs a fast five and there's a Group race for her at The Curragh.”

Regarding his exploits in the greyhound world, Roberts added “I've had great fortune with the dogs over the years and while I've won nearly everything, I still haven't won the Derby. It doesn't worry me but I've had dogs finish second, third, fourth and fifth in the past!”
