Toogoodtobetrue got off the mark on her second start as she took the opener at the Curragh this afternoon, the Sycamore Lodge Equine Hospital EBF Maiden, for Aidan and Joseph O'Brien.
The daughter of Oasis Dream was second on her debut at Naas earlier this month, keeping on well in the closing stages there to finish just three parts of a length behind winner Little Rooster.
Sent off the 1/2 favourite to go one place better this afternoon she was settled in third on the outer.
She was ridden over a furlong out and soon hit the front, keeping on well from there to hold off the persistent challenge of Gussy Goose by three parts of a length.
The runner-up was returned a 4/1 chance under Fran Berry for David Wachman, while the Jim Bolger trained newcomer New Alliance (12/1) was a further three and a quarter lengths back in third under Kevin Manning.
Aidan O’Brien said afterwards: "You’d have to be delighted with that. She came forward lovely from her first run.
"Joseph was very happy with her and he thinks she is a very nice filly. She will love stepping up to seven furlongs and she could be one for the Debutante or the Moyglare."
Speaking of his Oaks runners from yesterday O’Brien added: "They all seem fine and we won’t be in any panic with them. We’ve got Chicquita and Venus De Milo for the Yorkshire Oaks."
STEWARDS REPORT
The Stewards enquired into an incident before the furlong marker involving Toogoodtobetrue, ridden by J.P. O'Brien, winner, Gussy Goose, ridden by F.M. Berry, placed second and New Alliance, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed third, where it appeared New Alliance suffered interference and had to check.. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion any interference was caused accidentally and so they took no further action.
