Turret Rocks has to survive a stewards enquiry before being confirmed as the winner of the Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes at Gowran this evening.

Jim Bolger 's charge jumped out to make the running in the nine-furlong Listed prize, under Kevin Manning, and was driven along passing the two pole. Clear Skies tried to challenge up the rail a furlong from home but found the door closed and had to snatch up.

She switched out and stayed on close home but could only get within three-parts-of-a-length of the 13/8 favourite, who jinked left close home.

Turret Rocks was taking a drop in grade tonight having finish fourth behind Coronet in Group 2 company at York 12 days ago.

“We'll keep her well entered up and hopefully there are some good days in her still,” said Bolger.

“She's entered at Royal Ascot and then we have Derby weekend after that where we could have a look at the Pretty Polly. I'd prefer a mile-and-a-half for her though.”
