Third here last year when racing in the Godolphin blue, Twilight Payment (8s into 7s) went a couple of places better in the Group Two Comer Group International Curragh Cup.

To the sounds of a fire alarm in the enclosures the runners were taken out and reloaded for this mile and six event.

It eventually went off almost eight minutes late but that will matter little to connections and backers of the Jim Bolger-trained and Kevin Manning-ridden Twilight Payment.

Much like his stable companion, eight-year-old Flight Risk, Twilight Payment is on excellent terms with himself just now as he followed up on his Saval Beg win from last month.

From the front the Teofilo gelding, in the colours of Jackie Bolger, just wouldn’t yield to Latrobe and a neck split them.

For the sponsors Raa Atoll was two and three parts of a length back in third under Frankie Dettori.

Paddy Power go 50/1 first show about Twilight Payment for the Melbourne Cup.

“He's a great looker and he has the ability to match the looks,” said Bolger.

“We'll aim him at the Irish Leger and he'll probably go for the trial race before that.

“It's amazing, he's a six-year-old and he's still improving.”

When asked if he still got the same kick out of having winners he said:- “In this game you have to sort of steer a level path, don't get too high and don't get too low.”
