Unique gets it right

Really Unique opened his account when proving a game winner in the first division of the 2m5f handicap hurdle at Limerick.

Philip Enright always had the Witness Box gelding handy and he hit the front at the third last.

John Joe Walsh's charge responded well when asked for an effort between the final two flights and despite getting the last a bit wrong he was always in control. Stonehatchetmad chased him home, getting to within a length-and-a-half.

"He's only a handy horse and we'll keep him handicapping. Hopefully he can win a few more," said the trainer's son Brendan afterwards.

"He was a bit unlucky at Thurles the last day."

There was drama early on in the race with Strange Encounter clipping heels and falling on the bend after the second flight.

He brought down Tornant and The Two Jays in the process.
