Birr trainer George Webb saddled his first winner in over two decades when Underdefloorboards took division one of the two and a half miles handicap hurdle in fine style.

Andrew McNamara’s mount found a nice turn of foot to jump to the front at the final flight, and the 11/2 chance kept on well on the run-in to beat Academic Accolade (20/1) by a length and three quarters. Robbie Kaydee (16/1) was a further five lengths away in third, with Drive On Locky (8/1) completing the placings in fourth. Mini Budget was headed at the final flight, which he made a hash of, and weakened to finish fifth.

Webb, who trains at Shinrone near Birr, was last on the mark as a trainer at Ludlow all of 22 years ago.
