Westerner Point produced a fine front-running performance to land the Christy Lynch Memorial Novice Handicap Chase at Wexford.

Philip Enright jumped out in front on Eoghan O'Grady's charge and he battled well as the field pressed going to the penultimate fence.

The 7/2 shot kept on well from the back of the last to record a two-and-three-quarter length success over Glenwood For Ever

"We were thinking if today went to plan that we would go to Fairyhouse with him on Sunday week for a novice handicap chase,” said O'Grady.

“He doesn't like real knee deep winter ground, he likes soft ground."
