Former Champion Apprentice Ronan Whelan competed a double at Dundalk this evening, winning the finale, the Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk Maiden, on the Mark Fahey trained She's No Joke (9/4jf).

Fahey is better known, as yet, as an amateur jockey but has made a good start to his training career this year and was recording his third career winner.

Afterwards he said “that was a brilliant ride from Ronan – he got him into a good position from a bad draw.

“She deserved that as she has been very consistent and it's also a good tonic for her owner Charles McGrath, from Tullamore, who hasn't been too well recently.”

Whelan's earlier winner came on board Have A Nice Day in the seven furlongs handicap, also returned the 9/4 market leader!
