This week's Royal Ascot meeting which begins on Tuesday will break new ground with the first ever Worldwide Tote Pool.

Across Royal Ascot week we will see 30 different Tote pools from 10 different countries including, Tote Ireland, merge into one gigantic Tote Pool.

The liquidity of the pools over the week is expected to rise from around to £20 million last year to somewhere in the region of £70 million this week.

As well as the increased size of the pools the percentage retained by the operators will be reduce to a flat 17.5% on win and place bets.

Hong Kong which has the world's biggest single Tote pools will also bet directly into the new World Pool and all five days of Royal Ascot will be broadcast live by the Hong Kong Jockey Club for the first time.

The World Tote will only operate for win pools in races up to 24 runners as the Hong Kong Tote cannot accommodate larger fields.

The Hong Kong Tote is only set up to pay three places in races so will not be included in handicaps of 16 or more runners where UK and Irish Totes pay four places.

Irish customers can bet as usual on all Ascot races through Tote Ireland.
