Alan King has raised the possibility of Yanworth tackling the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton over the Christmas period.

The dual Grade One-winning hurdler has emerged triumphant on just one of his three chase starts so far this season, most recently having to settle for second behind Willoughby Court at Newbury.

However, the seven-year-old has yet to tackle a trip in excess of two and a half miles over fences, so the three-mile Kempton race, better known as the Feltham, would represent a different test for the former top-class stayer hurdler.

King said: "He is fine and is cantering away. He had a few overreaches (after Newbury), but nothing major.

"I've not really spoken to Frank Berry (racing manager for owner JP McManus), but he will run over the Christmas or new year period, I imagine.

"I don't mind sticking at two and a half, but there is also the Feltham."

King also has the Feltham in mind for Mia's Storm after wins at Chepstow and Market Rasen so far this season, but her participation could hinge on the ground at the Sunbury track.

The trainer added: "Mia's Storm has been very good, but she doesn't stand a lot of racing. The plan after Market Rasen was to go to the Feltham.

"If Kempton were to get very deep, there is a mares' race at Doncaster a few days later so if she doesn't run at Kempton, she will go there."
