Dawn Approach's brother Herald The Dawn has inherited plenty of the family talent, judging by his decisive success in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Naas.

Sent off the 15-8 market leader after a promising introductory second, Jim Bolger's colt was trapped wide and was a little bit keen, and had ground to make up when London and Sunglider kicked from the front.

He showed sparkling acceleration to bridge the gap, though, and Kevin Manning was already easing down when he crossed the line two and a quarter lengths in front.< Redstaroverchina was the only one of the six runners in the Birdcatcher Day 18th Otcober Race without a previous win to her name, but she stepped forward markedly to spring a big surprise.

Odds-on favourite Al Qahwa dictated terms to suit himself and saw off his challengers one by one, only for Pat Smullen to swoop late on the 40-1 winner, who got the verdict by a neck.

The market got the Kildare Post Rated Race right as Texas Rock obliged.

Backed down to 9-4 joint-favourite, Michael Grassick's gelding took the lead off Greek Canyon halfway down the straight and then held Joe Eile by a length and a quarter.< Little Treasure built on her encouraging debut fourth when returning to the same course and distance for the naasracecourse.com Maiden.

The well-supported 5-1 chance burst through to lead over a furlong from the finish and was always holding the running-on Oliveraie eventually scoring by a length and a half.< Battleroftheboyne has struggled as the summer has gone on and was mid-division in a seven-furlong handicap at Galway last week, but the drop back to the minimum trip for the Panoramic Restaurant At Naas Racecourse Apprentice Handicap rekindled his enthusiasm and he carried Robbie Downey to a cosy length-and-a-half triumph.< William Ashford (20-1) left all known form behind to land the Book On-line At naasracecourse.com Handicap, while Octavia (6-1) made all in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden.
