The Gordon Elliott trained Zanjabeel gained a narrow win, under jockey Declan McDonogh, in the Anglo Printers Maiden at Bellewstown today, scoring a second win in as many months.

The son of Aussie Rules won over hurdles at Tramore in June and today edged out 4/6 favourite Air Supremacy which met some trouble in-running early in the home straight, by a neck.

Elliott wasn’t present but former Champion Jockey McDonogh, who plays a big part in the fledgling Elliott Flat operation, later stated “Gordon said just don't get there too soon but he battled well when he got over the road.

“He was lazy and he didn't really carry me that well but when I got him out into the clear and down over the road he did well.”
