Review bellewstown 2nd Jul

Michael Cleere produced Sixteen Forty Two with a perfectly-timed run to claim the Paddy Farnan Memorial Handicap at Bellewstown.

Sent off the 7-2 favourite, Cleere delivered his challenge a furlong out in the mile heat and Sixteen Forty Two kept on well in the final few yards to hold the charge of Izagonawin by half a length.

Winning trainer David Wachman said: "The race really suited him and they went a good pace.

"He got a fantastic ride from Michael and we'll try our hand in a better handicap next."< Cloneylass (11-4) made the most of the drop back to the minimum trip to land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden in tidy fashion for trainer Jessica Harrington.

"That was good, she has being crying out for five furlongs," she said.

"We will probably head for a Listed race at Tipperary over five furlongs next."< Blue Law (9-2) landed a gamble as he triumphed in the first division of the www.citynorthhotel.com Handicap, holding Thistimesforgood by three lengths.

"I've only two in training and both have won now," said trainer Marcus Callaghan.

"This lad is a big coward, he doesn't like horses coming either side of him he doesn't like to be crowded.

"He stayed the trip well and it probably helped that they went quick early on."< Polly Ella made an amazing recovery after a tardy start to come from last to first in the second division of the mile race.

The 7-2 favourite completely missed the break but jockey Keagan Latham did not panic and worked his way back into the race before kicking on a furlong out for a three-and-a-half-length victory.

"She got a fantastic ride from Keagan," said trainer Harry Rogers.

"They got left and he sat and used his head as they went very fast early on. He's a very good pilot."

Wayne Lordan was handed a two-day ban for causing interference aboard winner Vamizi Island (11-10 favourite) in the Murphy Sand, Gravel & Decorative Stone Auction Maiden.

Although his mount impeded runner-up Gemara the stewards allowed the result to stand.
