Review clonmel 17th Nov

The Willie Mullins-trained 2-1 favourite Alelchi Inois was gifted the Clonmel Oil Chase by the last-fence fall of Outlander

Outlander was one of the horses removed from Mullins by Gigginstown House Stud and on his second outing for Gordon Elliott, took the lead off Dromnea on the run to two out.

Alelchi Inois was responding to pressure at that point but still some way down when Outlander didn't get nearly high enough at the last and crashed out, allowing Alelchi Inois to scoop the Grade Two prize by five lengths from Clarcam

Mullins and Ruby Walsh also secured the main supporting race when Westerner Lady justified even-money favouritism in the Grade Three EBF T.A. Morris Memorial Mares Chase, and they completed a treble through Miss Me Now in the Clonmel Oil Slan Abhaile Hurdle.

Westerner Lady jumped left at times but landed over the last just ahead of Thanks For Tea and Rock On The Moor and ran right the way to the line to flash past the post half a length to the good.< Rathnure Rebel so impressive on his sole appearance between the flags, showed that talent on his third outing under Rules, making most of the running in the I.N.H. Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle as the 7-2 co-favourite.< Veinard (4-1 favourite) struck at the second attempt since joining Elliott in the Clonmel Oil Race Day Handicap Hurdle, and his jockey Davy Russell followed up on Sea Light in the Clonmel Oil Service Station Handicap Hurdle.

Charles Byrnes' 5-2 favourite was making a swift return to action, having finished third at Cheltenham last weekend, but he clearly takes his racing well because he fought off the persistent challenge of Blackthorn Prince after the last to score by two lengths.< Hard Bought (6-4 favourite) repelled the late lunge of Bellgrove to come out of the Prior Park Service Station Clonmel Handicap Chase on top.
