Not for the first time, Sir Isaac Newton was a bitter disappointment and let down favourite-backers in the Dundalk Stadium Race.

Aidan O'Brien's one-time Classic hopeful had a hood fitted and was anchored at the back of the four-runner field by Seamie Heffernan, before moving up to challenge at the top of the straight.

He came off the bridle before Yuften (11-4), though, and his rival didn't have to be asked for maximum effort to score by four and three-quarter lengths for Johnny Murtagh and Connor King, with Sir Isaac Newton only just holding off Geological for second.

The rest of the night belonged to O'Brien, however, and the word was out about his newcomer Caravaggio prior to the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden

The 1-3 favourite tracked the leaders until Heffernan eased him to the lead along the inside, and he quickened impressively to account for stable companion Lundy by a length and three-quarters.

That kickstarted a four-timer for the master of Ballydoyle, who also struck when Seventh Heaven (9-10) landed the odds in the Light Up Your Night Fillies Maiden.

The well-related daughter of Galileo competed in a couple of decent maidens last year and has improved during the winter, judging by her three-and-a-quarter-length defeat of Heartful < Bravery then proved too strong in the Hen & Stag Packages (C & G) Maiden.

Another with a host of fancy entries, the 1-2 favourite came from the rear under Donnacha O'Brien to inflict a two-and-a quarter-length defeat on Mittersill

The O'Brien four-timer was completed when Stone Mountain shared the Fundraising Made Easy At Dundalk Stadium Handicap spoils with fellow 5-1 shot Spruce Meadows

An absence that stretched back to last September proved no hindrance to the Ger Lyons-trained Ardhoomey (5-1), who burned off his rivals in the straight to take the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap by a length and three-quarters from Kasbah
