Review dundalk 18th May

Khalid Abdullah's famous silks were carried to victory on the night before the return of superstar Frankel in the Lockinge Stakes as Exhortation edged home at Dundalk.

Dermot Weld's colt, sent off the 5-4 favourite for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden, was always up with the pace, but he found a tough opponent in Multitasking through the final quarter of a mile.

There was little in it as they flashed across the line together and Exhortation, running for the third time after two placed efforts, got the verdict by a nose.

Tommy Stack's juvenile Almanack showed a degree of promise when a well-backed third on his debut at the beginning of the month and he won the www.dundalkstadium.com Maiden in taking style.

Wayne Lordan bounced the 4-5 favourite out in front and supporters never had to worry as was kept up to his work in the straight to hold off Truly Madly by a length and three-quarters.

Sam James notched a double, beginning when he grabbed the lead in the shadow of the post on Little Village (10-1) to take the www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap by a head for Kieran Cotter.

He followed that by keeping Bernard Heffernan's Give Me Shelter (20-1) going from the front to resist Elwazeer by a length and a half in the Louth Rated Race.

Michael Grassick's top-weight Elusive In Paris (5-1 joint favourite) went up 6lb for his recent track success but still ran out a smooth three-quarters of a length winner in the Louth Agricultural Show 17th June Handicap under Niall McCullagh.

Chris Hayes produced Harry Rogers' mare Polly Ella (12-1) late down the centre of the track to take the first division of the Dundalk Stadium On Facebook Handicap by three-quarters of a length.

The second division was a landmark for Damian English, recording his second victory as a trainer with the same horse as Cash Or Casualty (16-1) was driven into the lead at the furlong pole by Shane Gray and held on by half a length.
