David Wachman's Aloof gained a deserved first Group-race victory in the Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes at Gowran Park.

The daughter of Galileo had run some solid races in defeat since making a successful seasonal reappearance in a minor event at Dundalk in April.

She was soon tracking leader Momentary under Billy Lee and although Beatrice Aurore came to challenge at the furlong marker as the winner went on, the 12-1 chance responded in kind, scoring by three parts of a length.< Trading Leather (10-11 favourite) ran out a ready winner on his second public appearance in the Powerstown Stud EBF Maiden.

A fine second to Battle Of Morengo on his recent debut in a Listed race at Leopardstown, Jim Bolger's Teofilo colt streaked seven lengths clear of Shadagann to record a bloodless success.

Dermot Weld's Fastidious (7-4 favourite) finally got off the mark in the Gowran Park Golf & Leisure Maiden under Pat Smullen, while the Gowran Park Apprentic Handicap went to Core Element (9-1) and Emmet McNamara.< Blazing Tempo made every yard under Ruby Walsh to claim the Paulstown Mares Hurdle as the 9-4 market leader.

Walsh set a steady gallop on the Willie Mullins-trained eight-year-old, gradually winding it up before finding plenty at the head of affairs to beat Burn And Turn by a length and a half.

Andrew McNamara had to be at his strongest to haul Defence Of Duress (100-30) over the line in front in the Thomastown Maiden Hurdle.

Tom Taaffe's smart Flat recruit was narrowly denied by Sizing Machine at Down Royal but went one better with a battling neck defeat of Ring Ben

The Gowran Park Handicap Hurdle went to Eoin Griffin's experienced campaigner Norther Bay

A smart novice in his younger days, the nine-year-old was sent straight to the front by Eddie O'Connell and the 10-1 chance kept up the gallop to hold Rodriguez two and a quarter-lengths at bay.
