Tombstone takes on four last-start winners in the Pierce Molony Memorial Novice Chase at Thurles on Saturday.

The Gordon Elliott-trained eight-year-old was a classy hurdler but he hasn't quite hit the heights expected of him over the larger obstacles, for all that he beat Jett in a Navan Grade Three, and he came up short in the Flogas Novice Chase when tried at the highest level most recently.

Jett is in opposition again but chief opposition in this Listed contest comes from the Willie Mullins stable, with Montalbano and Cadmium giving the champion trainer a strong hand.

The field is competed by Pat Fahy's impressive Fairyhouse victor Castlegrace Paddy.

Diamond King's attempt to regain his Coral Cup crown didn't last long and he bids to boost his confidence in the Enjoy White Gypsy At Finns Borrisoleigh Hurdle.

Elliott's charge was badly hampered in the early stages at the Cheltenham Festival but previously showed his well-being when only three lengths adrift of Killultagh Vic at Punchestown, and he is well clear of his four rivals on official ratings.

Elliott and Mullins appear to hold the aces in the Devil's Bit Beginners Chase, which gets proceedings under way at 2.10.

The Elliott-trained Ballela Boy is consistent enough and has experience on his side, but Mulins' representative Turcagua will be a tough nut to crack providing he has put last month's spill at this venue behind him.

Artic Pearl and Angus Milan won on the same day at Leopardstown and Ayr recently, and they now take each other on in the Thurles Vintners Handicap Chase.

Ballea Fox has been hit with an 11lb rise for his facile Limerick victory on Monday and he tops the list for the Bill Dowling Memorial Handicap Hurdle, while Eagle Roque sets the standard some interesting newcomers must aspire to in the www.thurlesraces.ie (Pro/Am) Flat Race.
