There was a dramatic conclusion to the Waterford & Tramore Racecourse Directors Rated Novice Hurdle at Tramore when the stewards reversed the first two placings and awarded the contest to Meldrum Lad

Sean Flanagan was beaten a short head on Harry Kelly's five-year-old (13-2), but he was briefly hampered by first-past-the-post War Of The Pennys on the run-in and the officials took the view that it made the difference.

Kevin Sexton rode War Of The Pennys (7-1), who looked to have the race won when he swept into the lead two out and disposed of favourite Ashjar before edging left after the last.

Sexton had better luck in the EY Beginners Chase when he led all the way on Paul Nolan's Behemoth (7-2), who skipped clear when the odds-on Vaxalco was running into trouble behind. He never looked like being caught and won by four and a quarter lengths.

Eoin Doyle picked up his second victory at the track this week when Indian Fairy placed in all her three runs this summer, broke her duck in the BBQ Evening At Tramore Races Mares Maiden Hurdle.

The 7-2 favourite slipped through on the inside rail under Brian Cawley to take a narrow lead at the final flight and got away from it quickly to beat Millie Le Bach by a length and three-quarters.

Davy Condon looked to be travelling well two out in the Flynn Hotel Group Handicap Hurdle on the Gordon Elliott-trained Swantykay and once the 4-1 shot saw a bit of daylight he pressed on to score by two lengths.

Augustine Leahy's Pleased As Punch (11-2) won for the first time in 17 starts when she collared favourite The Fitz Lady on the run-in and got home a neck in front under Mark Walsh in the Have Your Wedding At The Strand Inn Dunmore East Handicap Hurdle.

The Waterford & Tramore Racecourse Handicap Chase was a first victory under Rules for the James Dullea-trained Red Or White (5-1), who was sent on going to two out by Davy Russell and asserted to beat favourite All Fired Up by four lengths.
